The Niagara Frontier Orchid Society's annual Orchid Show will highlight hundreds of the colorful flowers through live displays and photography at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens, 2655 South Park Avenue, this weekend.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m Ribbons will be awarded to creative orchid displays and orchid photography. The displays are designed by members of the Orchid Society and the photos were selected by the Twin City and the Buffalo Museum of Science photography clubs.
Orchid vendors will have many seedling, flowering orchids and growing supplies available for purchase. Orchid growing workshops will be given at noon and 3 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday. Orchid society members will also be available throughout the show to answer your orchid questions.

Art, Music and The Gardens - November 1

Artist Catherine Parker and Composer/Organist Roland Martin have joined forces to produce a collaboration of paintings set to music that are based on the inspiration of poetry and nature.
Parker, the daughter of Artist
Charles Burchfield, grew up in Gardenville, just outside Buffalo.
Her work has been featured in many collections across the country
and internationally. Martin is a prominent figure in
Western New York’s musical community and is on the faculties of
Buffalo Seminary, Daemen College and the University at Buffalo.
As an organist, he has performed throughout the U.S., Canada and Western Europe. He is currently the musical director
at St. Joseph
University Church and for the Freudig Singers. Soprano Vocalist
Cristen Gregory and Cellist Bryan Eckenrode will accompany this
