Medina firm in partnership
Socket Mobile Inc. (NASDAQ: SCKT), a provider of mobile productivity solutions, has announced a partnership with Medina, N.Y.-based United Imaging Solutions LLC, a developer of digital imaging software.
The partnership will allow professional photographers to quickly and securely transmit, manage and track images from their cameras to a remote system, editing studio or printer, Socket Mobile said.
Wi-Pics Mobile is a digital imaging software application developed by UIS, which leverages mobile computing with barcode, magnetic stripe, and RFID scanning technologies and three user-defined data fields to instantly organize and upload pictures. Using the Socket SoMo 650 handheld computer and scanner, event photographers take pictures while simultaneously associating the images to specific customers using magnetic stripe cards, RFID tags and plastic cards or envelopes pre-printed with unique barcodes.
“Originally, Wi-Pics Mobile was intended for the event photography business, but we’ve been seeing a lot more business coming from other sectors including crime scene investigation, health care, and hospitality,” said Tim O’Leary, director of operations at United Imaging Solutions, said in a news release.
“One of the reasons we liked the SoMo 650 over other devices is because it supports higher wireless network security protocols, which is critical when dealing with sensitive information such as crime scene photos and customer credit card information,” O’Leary said. “Our clients love the solution and are always amazed at how much it improves their workflow.”
Founded in 2007, United Imaging Solutions LLC is a developer of digital imaging software solutions for professional photographers. It is a privately held company.
Socket Mobile Inc. is based in Newark, Calif., and offers handheld computers and peripherals designed for business mobility.
